Lead Classroom Teacher Job Description

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Observe and monitor children’s activities.
  • Keep attendance records for children
  • Complete homework sheets for each child for the purpose of parental communication
  • Assist children with homework and activities
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games, and crafts
  • Prior to children’s arrival classroom should be orderly with all supplies available and ready for homework or activity time
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure that classroom is neat.
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning your classroom:
    • Make sure all tables are clean
    • Shelves are orderly and dusted
    • Desk is clean and organized
    • Classroom is mopped once a week
    • Make sure bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned and mopped on your assigned day
  • Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
    • No degrading of students
    • No yelling at students
  • Discipline children according to approved discipline guidelines (see handbook)
  • Maintain Accountability:
    • Such as caring for own belongings (books, bags, jackets)
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring to the directors attention so that it can be brought to the parents’ or guardians’ attention.
  • Assist Director as needed with weekly and monthly assignments
