Duties and responsibilities include:
- Observe and monitor children’s activities.
- Keep attendance records for children
- Complete homework sheets for each child for the purpose of parental communication
- Assist children with homework and activities
- Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games, and crafts
- Prior to children’s arrival classroom should be orderly with all supplies available and ready for homework or activity time
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure that classroom is neat.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning your classroom:
- Make sure all tables are clean
- Shelves are orderly and dusted
- Desk is clean and organized
- Classroom is mopped once a week
- Make sure bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned and mopped on your assigned day
- Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
- No degrading of students
- No yelling at students
- Discipline children according to approved discipline guidelines (see handbook)
- Maintain Accountability:
- Such as caring for own belongings (books, bags, jackets)
- Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring to the directors attention so that it can be brought to the parents’ or guardians’ attention.
- Assist Director as needed with weekly and monthly assignments
